Please note that the Procurement Unit of the Government of Afghanistan handles procurement for most World Bank-financed projects and for donors which have selected to use the Procurement Unit’s services. The Procurement Unit assists ministries with tenders, evaluations, and contracting and provides advice on a range of procurement issues.

All procurement is carried out according to the procedures of the respective donor, e.g. the World Bank, the EU, and the Asian Development Bank.
In some cases procurement may be carried out directly by donors, multilateral organizations or the relevant Afghan ministry. To be aware of all major opportunities and relevant details in time, double-checking of necessary information is recommended.

Working closely with AISA, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is setting up a Business Advice Centre in Kabul in cooperation with the Ministry of Commerce and the national network of Chambers of Commerce. The aim is to help Afghan start up businesses and SMEs to develop more rapidly, access finance and find international partners and markets. International investors will profit from this service as technical assistance in business planning is provided to potential local partners. Services include: Introductory advice and fact sheets on business development issues, classroom training and workshops as well as individual consultancy, management mentoring, and business development services.
